‘Follow where the Master leads,’ archbishop tells Detroit seminarians

On Wednesday, August 6, Archbishop Edward J. Weisenburger celebrated the Candidacy Mass with Sacred Heart Major Seminary seminarians at the Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament—a sacred milestone on the path to the priesthood.
During this private liturgy, three men—Jonathan Forrest, Jake Rapanotti, and Brendan Tabone—publicly declared their intention to continue discerning God’s call and offering their lives in service to Christ and His Church.
The Rite of Candidacy marks a deepening of their vocational journey, as the Church formally recognizes them as candidates for Holy Orders.
As these men continue their formation, let us surround them with our prayers, asking the Lord to grant them clarity, courage, and grace as they walk the path of discipleship and self-gift.
